Updated!
Updates worked into text
Well FUDO users, as you probably know already, we have had some server
trouble. Read on for the deatails.
Essentially, our primary server has been compromised, again, and this time,
we're not going to risk celery on the internet anymore. Some crew named
"SPYKIDS" replaced all our index.html files with bogus garbage. Punks.
So, what about our data, our services? Well, nearly all data is still
intact, and user files and emails are preserved. As for services, we are
partially done most everything, and most everything is not yet complete.
quasar will be filling in for the time being. It's a PII-400 with 192MB,
with a new install of Ubuntu 6.06 LTS x86 Server, that's been humming along
now for about 106 days at reaper's place. It should do well.
New Features
Yes, FUDOers, there will be new features. Currently in the works are:
- universal logins across all fudo services and servers.
- fully redundant hard drives for all user data (RAID0 - mirroring)
- Access to a >10Mbps internet connection, proper dedicated hosting
I hope some of that sounds cool to you guys, and we hope it makes this current
interruption more bearable.
Known broken:
- email - user files not yet in place
- user websites; ovfp and retpa should be working, mark?
- Jabber/XMPP; unresolved client connect issues, go ahead and try...
- probably other misc stuff
This list will be worked on tomorrow, and the next day, till we're back in
fully operational order.
Working:
IRC is working at irc.fudo.org. #fudo is main chat, and #fudo-dev is tech chat.
I am there, niten is there, up-to-the-minute information can be obtained there
as well.
Stay tuned to www.fudo.org for further updates. We should be much farther ahead
tomorrow evening, and totally functional by the weekend.
Happy computing, everyone.
